A next-generation football helmet that helps detect dangerously hard hits in real time. Built into the shell are micro-accelerometers and a tiny microcontroller that continuously measure impact forces—tracking both linear and rotational acceleration to estimate how hard a player’s head has been struck. When a hit exceeds a preset safety threshold, the helmet’s LED lights around the outside flash instantly as a visible alert, helping coaches, trainers, and players recognize potentially concussion-causing impacts right away.
